AGE CATEGORY RECOGNITION
This level of our award system acknowledges each runner’s placement within their age category in their event. This placement appears beside the runner’s name in the official results. There are no medals or physical awards for this recognition. The standard age categories that are used for this recognition are:
TOP PLACEMENT AWARDS
1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall Awards
In the Half-Marathon, 10 km Race and 5 km Race Overall Awards are presented to the first three males and first three females in each event. To be eligible for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall Awards the runner must be first, second or third across the finish line. Runners interested in attempting for these awards should make sure that they marshal themselves in the front coral at the start line.
1st, 2nd and 3rd Youth Awards
In order to encourage increased participation by youth special Youth Placement Awards are offered by the RCAF Run in the Half-Marathon, 10 km Race and 5 km Race. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Youth Awards are presented to the three males and three females with best completion times in each event. “Youth” is defined as 19 years of age and under on race day.
1st, 2nd and 3rd Masters’ Awards
In order to recognize the lifelong commitment to fitness Masters’ Awards are offered by the RCAF Run. In the Half-Marathon, 10 km Race and 5 km Race. 1st, 2nd and 3rd Masters’ Awards are presented to the three males and three females with best completion times in each event. “Masters” are defined as 40 years of age and over on race day.
Half Marathon 2-Person Relay Awards
Relay teams may be mixed or same sex. There are no age restrictions for team members. In light of these parameters the only awards presented in this event are 1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall; and to increase interest in youth for this sport, if both members of the relay team are 19 years of age or under on race day 1st, 2nd and 3rd Youth Awards will also be presented.
